Young SomersetAsk Young a question

Summary

At Young Somerset, we are looking for regular human beings like you who want to make a difference to young people's lives, and support us as charity Trustees.

Detailed description

What will I do?

Our Trustees take part in dynamic Board Meetings, read and approve key policies, vote on crucial decisions which impact the lives of hundreds of young people, and support us in our ambitions to do more for young people in Somerset.

How much time will I need to commit?

Trustees take part in four Full Board Meetings over the year, with occasional Sub-Committees as applicable. There is also one away day per year. Full Board Meetings last approximately two hours. There are reports from various teams, an update on our finances and engaging insights from our CEO. Outside of the meetings, there are times when Trustees review our updated policies and other documents. These are sent online, usually with a turnaround deadline of two weeks. We are respectful of the fact that many of our Trustees also have their own full-time jobs.

What can I offer?

A smiling face, willingness to meet the time requirements and a desire to learn more about Young Somerset. We have a wide range of skills and experience within our current members, however we would particularly welcome interest from those with experience in legal, digital, finance or mental health.

What’s in it for me?

It’s an opportunity to give back and feel good! Perhaps you have gained a wealth of experience that would benefit the work of our charity. Or maybe it’s an opportunity to support your professional development by learning new things. Take a look at our website to find out more about what we do.

What can I do next?

If you would like to find out more, please contact our Company Secretary, Victoria Trebilcock or come along to one of our open events where you can meet our current Trustees and Senior Leadership Team*.

All Trustees will need to complete an enhanced DBS check to comply with our safer recruitment procedures.
