Detailed description

Our volunteer Mentors provide one-to-one listening support in the home of the families that we support for one hour a week. We are here to 'help families help themselves'.

To do this Mentors are trained to work (alongside our paid link workers) with the client family by listening to them in a non-judgmental way and helping them gain the support they need to make changes, find solutions to their challenges and bring new hope into their lives.

Yeovil4Family work with all types of families and individuals regardless of faith, gender, race, disability, marital status, social class, age or sexual preference. All families come in different shapes and sizes, with different experiences, achievements and struggles. All people are unique.

ABOUT YEOVIL4FAMILY

Yeovil4Family was set up in 2011 by churches in Yeovil who had a heart to see the tide of family breakdown turn in our town, to see children who are loved and cared for prosper and family relationships that are constructive instead of destructive and damaging. We deliver a family support programme offering help to struggling families so that they can regain control over their own lives and feel empowered and equipped to move forward. We offer the support of Family Link Workers who are the families’ voice amongst the agencies, but also, each family is offered a Volunteer Mentor who plays a crucial role.

During the summer of 2020, Yeovil4Family secured significant additional funding and is, as a result, looking to expand it's reach from Yeovil to across South Somerset, with a view to greatly increasing the number of families it is working with.

Be part of a fantastic family mentoring programme which carefully matches mentors with a family living within South Somerset.

Our Link Workers provide family support for activities such as benefits, parenting, housing advise to name a few. We also have Volunteer Family Mentors who provide one-to-one listening support in the home for one hour a week. We are here to ‘help families to help themselves’. To do this Mentors are trained to work with the family by listening to them in a non-judgemental way and helping them gain the support they need to make changes, find solutions to their challenges and bring new hope into their lives.
