Controllers required to assign incoming tasking to our rider team

Detailed description

As a voluntary controller, you will manage our planned and ad hoc tasking, by receiving phone calls from our partner Hospitals, other Blood Bike groups and any other health providers who need to use our service, assigning tasks to either our Duty Riders or our Ad Hoc team via our WhatsApp messaging channels, and also act as the first point of contact in the event of an emergency, to assist in coordinating our response.

Yeovil Freewheelers is the UK's longest serving Blood Bike charity. We are innovators, enthusiasts and servants of the community, all rolled into one - and we are a family, first and foremost.

About YFW Bloodbikes (Yeovil Freewheelers)

The Yeovil Freewheelers is a charity organisation based out of Yeovil District Hospital that provides a unique free service helping both hospitals and patients. We operate out of hours during the evenings, weekends and bank holidays, to provide fast, safe and efficient transport between hospitals throughout the region.

YFW provide emergency courier relief to countless NHS organisations in Somerset and Dorset, carrying blood, medicines, samples and medical equipment to name a few, between hospitals, care homes, patients and laboratories. The team consists of a fleet of eight motorcycles, delivering completely free of charge to the NHS.

During the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the fleet volunteered to taking on double the workload for Yeovil Hospital and other surrounding hospitals, which included the daily delivery of 1000’s of COVID-19 swabs throughout the country for testing daily. Throughout the peak, the team were covering nearly 25,000 miles a month; compared to the 10,000 they were doing pre-COVID.
