Summary

Volunteer gardeners required on a small community growing for wellbeing project working with adults and young adults to support wellbeing.

Detailed description

The Wild Roots Growing for Wellbeing Project is an established group working along the principles of therapeutic horticulture to provide a supportive group environment with the emphasis on growing vegetables, fruit and flowers and rural craft activities.

The site boasts a purpose made roundhouse for woodworking, a large covered seating and cooking area, a compost toilet, a wellbeing/sensory garden, numerous fruit and nut trees, a wildflower meadow, two small areas of copse, a wildlife pond, a polytunnel and a small gravelled parking area. It is both a hive of activity and a quiet oasis.

We are well served by public transport and a short distance from the villages of Baltonsborough and Barton St David.

We need help with all aspects of the horticultural activities that take place on site and help cooking our soup lunch. No experience necessary. Tasks can be adapted to suit differing abilities and energy - for example they can range from strenuous physical tasks to seated seed sowing and lone working or group working as preferred.

All tools and gloves provided as well as refreshments and a home cooked soup lunch.
