Job Title: Volunteer Crèche Worker

Reports to: Creche Leader / Women's Centre Manager

Location: Bridgwater Women’s Centre, Somerset

Hours: 16 hours per week. However, this is flexible and open to discussion

 

 

We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, and reliable individual who is looking to gain experience in the childcare sector to enhance their CV or practice their existing skills and knowledge and contribute to our busy women’s centre! Due to an increase in children accessing our creche we are recruiting a volunteer creche worker to support our creche leader in the day to day operations of the creche.

 

 

Purpose of the role

 

The Women’s centre supports women with multiple and complex needs, it offers a drop-in service and provides a crèche service for children (0-8years) to be looked after whilst their mother is attending the centre. Our creche is a crucial part of the women’s centre and is open on a part time basis and led by Heather; our dedicated Creche Leader.

 

We require someone who is reliable, flexible and able to take initiative to support our Creche leader to look after the children accessing the creche. The successful candidate will have experience in the childcare sector, or a passion to gain that experience, an understanding of trauma and why women access our women’s centre, demonstrating warmth and respect for children, encouraging their interests by giving them opportunities to develop through social, physical and educational play.

 

 

Your Key Responsibilities

 

  • To care for, nurture and interact with the children. Reading stories, actively play and educate the children
  • Follow directions given by creche leader / senior staff
  • Assist with programmed activities
  • Disinfecting Childrens area and equipment
  • Assisting with meal times
  • Maintain and abide to Health & Safety procedures within the centre
  • To communicate to creche leader if you have any complaints received, equipment, parental needs, welfare of the children or any situation that may be detrimental
