Outreach and Tour Assistant

The aim at CHAC is for everyone to enjoy the heritage of Yeovil and South Somerset. Tours and outreach events are a central way to achieve this for both visitors and volunteers helping with the visit. You would be assisting the Heritage Co-Ordinator with the delivery of guided tours at CHAC and outreach events at other locations like Yeovil Library and Ham Hill Country Park. You would receive training provided by the Heritage Co-Ordinator and Volunteer Co-Ordinator in the successful delivery of guided tours and outreach events, including: · Receive an initial guided tour to understand the nature of the stores and the types of collections and ask any questions · welcoming visitors and providing refreshments · health and safety provision – ratio of staff to visitors · An ‘extra pair of eyes’ to monitor the collection during visits · Learning about a section of the collection to explain to visitors, e.g. costume, photographs or paintings · Monitoring visitors and answering questions related to the collections where applicable · Guiding visitors around the stores safely in partnership with other staff and volunteers · Feedback to the volunteer team thoughts and experiences and where additions in the tour can be made As and when required for tours and outreach events
