Detailed description

Could you support our vital work in a very special way? We are currently looking for a support volunteer to fill the role of Secretary to the Trustees. You will become a Trustee of Yeovil, Sherborne & District Branch of Samaritans. You will receive training to give you an understanding of the role and of Samaritans as an emotional support and suicide prevention charity. You won't have direct contact with our callers but you will attend around 8 meetings of Trustees and Volunteers a year. Outside of meetings you can work from home - a printer and laptop can be provided. The role involves: As part of the Branch Leadership Team, ensure that the legal and regulatory requirements of the branch are met and effective records and administration are kept. Arranging and attending Branch Leadership Meetings including the Annual General Meeting. Sending out agendas via email in advance and taking and circulating minutes. Working with the Director and Deputy Director team to arrange Branch Meetings. All meetings will be held in our new Centre, Morley House, Yeovil BA20 1XE. Attendance at branch meetings would be nice but not necessary. Monitoring and purchasing stationery and general office management (minimal) Skills needed include: Good computer skills, familiar with Word and email Good communication skills & organisational skills The ability to work in a team Meetings are held in some evenings and some day times according to availability of trustees Benefits: Exciting opportunity to support a well know trusted national charity locally Become part of a friendly, supportive team.
