IT Support Volunteer

Yeovil and Sherborne Samaritans is a charity whose aim is that fewer people die by suicide. They are here to help people under emotional stress at any time in their lives, to listen and provide support. Could you support our vital work with your IT skills? Samaritans is a UK wide organisation and has developed software that manages phone calls ensuring the best service to our callers. This software is run on our own computers and is dependant on us having an internet connection. We have just moved into our new home in Yeovil and have a new Ethernet system running throughout the building attached to 9 computers and 8 telephone lines, which is great when it works! What we need is a volunteer who is willing to help look after our systems: To ensure all our PCs are operating correctly To ensure our internet is operating correctly To ensure our phones are operating correctly To ensure that our various listening devices are operating correctly And if any of the above are not then to sort them out so that they are! You will not have to be a listening Samaritan to take on this function, but would be joining a team of caring individuals who try to support others. You would become a Support Volunteer, entitled to claim for travelling expenses and attend branch meetings and get togethers. The function could be carried out on the phone, through TeamViewer and of course on site.
