Summary

The evening art group requires the support of a volunteer for three hours from 5.30pm to 8.30pm currently on Mondays except for bank holidays.

Role:

We are looking for a volunteer with lived experience/and/or experience within the mental health sector who has a keen interest in Art to support our Monday evening Art group.

Role Description:

The Art Group Volunteer will support the group leader in setting up and clearing away art equipment.

Will support group participants to immerse themselves in their creative activity in a calm and compassionate way under the direction of the group leader.

Desired skill & knowledge

  1. Keen interest in arts and being creative.
  2. Can work sensitively and quietly to encourage clients to immerse themselves in their creative activity.
  3. Can field behaviour that arises from people feeling anxious, panicky or distressed, responding with calm and compassion
  4. Happy to join in whenever possible to become a quiet, watchful presence in the room.
  5. Can gently challenge without confrontation to maintain the guidelines the client group have decided upon.

All new volunteers will be required to complete 5 essential online training courses as part of their induction into the Charity. Dependant on the type of volunteer role undertaken, additional training may be also required.
