The Wednesday Club, Martock

This is a great opportunity to be part of the Wednesday Club, a supportive social group. We are looking for a caring and motivated person who can engage with a wide variety of people in a non-judgemental and supportive way; to encourage members to engage in the activities or be a listening ear to those who have simply come for a cuppa and chat; to help develop the group and encourage an ethos of peer support, where every member feels they have something to contribute. Supporting the group will be very rewarding in that you are providing a much-needed service to this vulnerable client group and they are very appreciative of this space to go and socialise. You will have fun along the way and hopefully will enjoy the activities and enjoy encouraging members to participate. You will develop your people skills and will be working with a varied client group including wide age range and issues. (This can be an advantage if needing to demonstrate this experience when applying for certain jobs like the police or care jobs) There will be in-house volunteer support and training, and can look to develop volunteers with specific training if this was felt to be advantageous to the group and the volunteer. Wednesday Mornings, 10am - 1pm. The group runs from 10.30 - 12.30 every Wednesday but help to set up and clear up would be helpful. Help needed to help with refreshments, activities, talking and listening to members.
