Summary
We are looking for a governor to support and strengthen the governance of this school.Detailed description
Kingston St Mary CofE Primary School has a vacancy for a Local Authority appointed governor.
The purpose of school governance is to provide strategic leadership in schools and to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.
Typically, governing boards meet every half term and expect board members to undertake monitoring visits to see the school in action, alongside preparing for meetings and undertaking training to support you in the role. The overall time commitment is in the region of 8 hours a month although this varies according to the individual school and any additional responsibilities you take on.
Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It gives volunteers the chance to make a real difference to young people, to give something back to their local community and use and develop skills.
Anyone can be a governor, as long as they are over 18 years of age. Boards benefit from having a diverse range of skills and expertise. Some examples of the types of experience that boards find particularly valuable include strategic leadership, finance, human resources, legal services, health and safety and education.
