Summary

Our veteran would like to be able to attend the local Men in Sheds group in Taunton one day a week and needs some assistance to do this.

Detailed description

Volunteer drivers and outings escorts are essential in helping our veterans get from A to B. Whether it's collecting them from their homes to bring them to our centres, driving them to appointments, or getting them out for a day trip, our transport team enable our veterans to do the things they need to do.

Our veteran would like to be able to attend the local Men in Sheds group in Taunton one day a week and needs some assistance to do this. Men in Sheds TAUNTON (MIST) is a place where men can come together, build things, get involved in community projects, learn new skills or pass skills on to others. Do you enjoy spending time in your shed, making things or pottering about? Our veteran would enjoy the chance to do this sort of thing again and you can help him achieve this by driving him there and back and also attending the session alongside our member to assist him with his activity and help him use equipment safely.

This voluntary role is ideal for someone who likes driving and getting out and about, and can make our veteran feel at ease along the journey and will also enjoy taking part in the type of activity on offer at Men in Sheds. Although you will be working independently, your manager is just at the other end of the phone and there is a network of other volunteers for you to link in with too. Volunteers must be over the age of 21 and have held their license for 2+ years. You will need to have your own car, but we will cover all reasonable expenses. The role can be flexible around your other commitments, but we ask that you are reliable and punctual for our veterans. You will be fully trained and supported so you feel comfortable and confident in your volunteering.
