Detailed description

Help us run a supportive, fun and friendly youth club. We're offering volunteer placements for motivated DofE participants to support our work at the Rollercoaster Youth Club, based on Parkway, Bridgwater. We have a great supportive team of staff, volunteers and a brilliant group of young people. We are experienced at supporting DofE volunteers, having successfully supported students from the local college. Make a real difference! Your skills and experiences are valuable. You will be a positive role model, you will inspire young people, to raise their aspirations. You will be supportive to enable young people to thrive. We're not just looking for volunteers to work directly with our young people perhaps you'd like to assist with administration, fundraising, IT, social media, marketing & promotion? Volunteers will assist with the delivery of activities and supervision of the sessions. Volunteers will not undertake anything that they are not confident or comfortable doing. Volunteers will be supported by the lead Youth Worker / Project Coordinator and will not be required to work alone with young people. Our projects are fully inclusive and welcome ALL young people from the community. We offer a safe, confidential, supportive space for young people to socialise, make friends, enjoy activities, learn skills, have fun. Youth work is so rewarding. Staff genuinely feel a buzz from engaging with young people. It often helps develop confidence and a greater understanding of oneself. A perfect opportunity to use your own skills, interests and experiences to engage young people, educate, inspire and raise their aspirations. Youth Work experience is valued by employers. Volunteers often move on to secure employment offering services for young people. We also offer training and support. Rollercoaster Youth Project runs on Tuesday evening 6:30pm to 8:30pm for ages 11 to 17. Friday evening 5:30 to 7pm for the juniors ages 8 to 11. We open during the school term time although we may run trips or other activities during the school holiday periods. We have other exciting projects in the area and surrounding communities. We would expect set up and pack away time to take 15 minutes so a two hour session would require two hours and thirty minutes. We require a long term commitment to the project. We need consistency to enable young people to develop meaningful relationships with the supporting staff. We are also looking for support in Stogursey, Cannington & Taunton areas. These sessions run on different days and times.

About Youth Unlimited CIC

Youth Unlimited is a not for profit Community Interest Company. We offer professional Youth & Community Services in Somerset (primarily in the Taunton Deane and Sedgemoor communities).

We develop and deliver professional, inclusive projects that provide young people with support, informal education and positive opportunities.

We run Youth Clubs and groups that offer fun safe places where young people can socialise and take part in positive activities.

We deliver Street Based "Detached" Youth Work that engages directly with young people in the community wherever they are (in the parks or on the estates etc).

We work with schools, supporting students to overcome blocks which may be complicating their education progress, either individually or in a group setting.

We also deliver workshops on specific issues such as relationships and substance use (PSHE).

We work with communities, housing associations, parish & town councils, Somerset in Care Council and other Community groups / projects / organisations.

We have a broad range of skills and experience in developing and delivering services for young people and young adults.
