Digital Archivist needed to digitise historic YMCA documents that have been unearthed during refurbishment building work.

As we undergo some exciting building renovations, we have a unique opportunity for volunteers to help preserve our rich history in a digital format.


Role Overview

We are seeking dedicated and tech-savvy volunteers to join us as Digital Archivists. In this role, you will be responsible for digitising various physical mementos, including documents, posters, paintings, books, and leaflets. Your efforts will ensure that these items are preserved and accessible online for future generations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Scanning: Digitally scan documents to create high-quality copies.
  • Photographing: Capture high-resolution images of posters and paintings.
  • Creating PDFs: Convert books and leaflets into PDF format for easy access and archiving.
  • Uploading: Ensure all digital files are correctly uploaded to our website and digital archive.


What We Are Looking For

  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with scanning equipment and digital photography.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to produce high-quality digital copies and accurately label files.
  • Organisational Skills: Efficiently manage digital files and ensure they are correctly categorised.
  • Commitment: Availability to volunteer for the duration of the building works.
