Wincanton Community Fridge
Wincanton has a Town Charter - Wincanton Ecological and Environmental Plan. Within the plan it was identified the importance of reducing landfill and food waste. The Community fridge has been funded by donations from our local support group Wincanton on Facebook.
One of our new volunteering opportunities is related to our newest project `the community fridge'. The role requires daily AM/PM checking, cleaning the fridge and removing produce (vegetables and fruit) which is no longer editable. You will be part of a small team enabling this important resource to be available to the residents of the town across 7 days a week. You can choose the day/s and times. Food donations are secured by the Coles Yard fruit and veg shop, local businesses and allotments.
Your role is to ensure the fridge is checked and record the time it was checked, load or remove produce and if you require support to contact the Town Hall or fridge coordinator.
This is a great opportunity if you are in the town and can spend 15-30mins. Full training and support will be provided.
