TRUSTEE (Non-paid)

Are you passionate about your community and want to leave a lasting impact?

Weston Hospicecare is seeking committed and skilled individuals to join our Board of Trustees. We welcome applicants who share our values and are motivated by the opportunity to make a genuine difference.

We are especially seeking trustees with expertise in clinical leadership, finance, commercial property, and communications and marketing, to help strengthen our care, raise our community profile, and support a sustainable future.

We are particularly interested in people with knowledge of Clevedon and Cheddar Valley to complement our Weston-super-Mare and Burnham-on -Sea Trustees, helping us deliver the right care across the whole community.

What you’ll do:

  • Support governance and oversight to meet regulatory standards, including CQC excellence
  • Help shape strategic direction and organisational priorities
  • Ensure high standards of patient care, compliance, and organisational effectiveness
  • Champion equity, diversity, and inclusion across the organisation
  • Bring fresh innovative thinking to strengthen our Board and our impact

What we are looking for:

  • Creative, committed, and collaborative individuals
  • Expertise in clinical, finance/accounting, commercial property or marketing/comms
  • Strategic thinkers with strong governance awareness
  • Champions of equality, diversity, and inclusion
  • People motivated by making a positive impact in the community

This is a voluntary role and requires a commitment of approximately 4–6 hours per month, including attendance at bi-monthly board and/or sub-committee meetings. Some of these meetings start at 8.00am and are currently held in person.

The application process will include an informal discussion with our Chair of Trustees, followed by a meeting with another relevant Trustee, Chief Executive or Senior Management Team member. Successful candidates will be assigned a mentor and invited to attend two Board/sub-committee meetings prior to formal appointment.

If you are motivated by strong values, good governance and making a real impact, we would love to hear from you.

Appointment to this post is subject to an Enhanced DBS certificate

We welcome and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds. We do not discriminate on the basis of disability, race, colour, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, age, veteran status, or any other category protected by law.
