End of life care volunteers offer time, care and compassion to adult inpatients at Weston General Hospital.
The end of life care volunteer service is a new Monday - Friday service for Weston General Hospital which we are recruiting for currently. Volunteers offer time, care and compassion at the bedside to those who have been identified as in the last phase of their lives. This support may involve listening and talking to patients and their loved ones, reading or sharing music to offer comfort, or simply being a quiet presence at the bedside.
Volunteers spend up to 3 hours per session supporting patients within the hospital, as directed by the coordinator. There is a small amount of admin involved as the visit details must be recorded digitally at the end of each session.
Volunteers will be given full training and support as part of this role, which is both challenging and rewarding. Volunteers should be 18+ due to the challenging nature of the role.
More details can be found on the role profile.
