Summary
Our Heritage train stations offer a variety of volunteer roles, from gardeners to Booking Office staff, please see below for more details.Detailed description
Our nine heritage railway stations run from Bishops Lydeard (near Taunton) through to Minehead and able to offer a unique volunteering experience.
Each station works well with their local communities to offer links with local events and are very inclusive. Some of their volunteers can only attend once a fortnight while others can attend several times a week (depending on their role and time availability).
Whether you would like to help in the station shop raising funds for the station, making ticket sales in their Booking Office, tending to the station gardens or helping with some general maintenance jobs, we would love to hear from you.
What we will provide to volunteers
💸 Reimbursement of costsAbout West Somerset Railway
Our Railway, a true country branch line of the old Great Western Railway is full of fascination whether you are looking for a nostalgic ride back in time through lovely countryside or to study the railway and industrial heritage which our line preserves.
The historic steam locomotives, coaches and wagons, and the buildings of our ten unique stations linked by a twenty mile scenic journey will repay hours of exploration.
Our work to preserve the line and our locomotives is endless and without our volunteers we would not be able to survive.
