Summary
Gauge Museum Steward
Detailed description
To promote education by furthering interest in and appreciation of railway lines, equipment, buildings, construction and steam and engines of historical, engineering or scientific importance. The Gauge Museum is sited at Bishops Lydeard Railway Station in the Goods Shed originally built in 1862. The movement of goods by rail has impacted historically on the economic and social developments locally in promoting the speedy transportation and delivery of goods by rail.
The Museum Steward is there to give advice and guidance to visitors to the museum and the railway. In addition, the Steward will be able to provide the visitor with a guided tour of the 1892 First Class Sleeping Car. As much training and support as needed will be given including an acquaint with the railway in general.
You do not need to know about Heritage Railways or the museum environment, the Trust can provide you with the appropriate training.
