The Moat Boat Race has been a major August Bank Holiday attraction since the 1960s. Volunteers are needed to steward in 2 hour shifts on the day

Wells Moat Boat Race Needs You - Volunteer Stewards Wanted

The Moat Boat race family fun day has drawn crowds to Wells on August Bank Holiday Monday since the 1960s and this year's event is bigger than ever - Town Crier Phil Dickson starting the races, a Sunday Market in the Market Place, live bands on the Bandstand and entertainment stalls on the Rec ground.

None of it runs without volunteer stewards on the ground. More than 20 volunteers have already stepped up to help organise the day, but two of the stewarding shifts still need more people :

10:30 - 12:30 - covered

12:30 - 2:30 - need 4-5 more

2:30 - 4:30 - need 1-2 more

Stewards will be allocated a position on or around the Moat, helping direct spectators, keeping space available for judges and generally being a friendly face for any enquiries.

If you can help as a steward, please contact us and let us know which shift you can do - thank you!
