Opportunity to get involved in Taunton's oldest charity. Helping those in need locally and support our Residents living in our Almshouses.
Taunton Heritage Trust, is looking for a new Trustee to help improve the pastoral support we provide to our Residents—older adults who live in our housing community.
We are particularly looking for someone with experience in pastoral care, social work, housing support, or community engagement who can bring valuable insights to our Board. This is a voluntary governance role with a flexible time commitment, but it offers a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
- Would you or someone in your network be interested in this opportunity?
We’d love to hear from anyone who:
- Understands the challenges older adults face in housing and well-being
- Wants to shape how we support Residents and foster a caring community
- Has time to contribute to a small but impactful charity
You can find more details about the role on our website - Taunton Heritage Trust.
Please feel free to share this opportunity within your network or let us know if you’d like to discuss it further.

About Taunton Heritage Trust
We are an Almshouse charity which started in 1635. It has 66 Almshouse flats over 5 sites for over 60's who are in need, on a low income and can live independently in Taunton. Our focus is on providing a high standard of living for our Residents and helping to build communities on each of our sites.
We have beautiful historic buildings which we are very proud of. The oldest building is Grays Almshouses which has its own chapel inside.
Alongside looking after our many Residents we also help in the community of Taunton Deane by offering a grants scheme to those in need for items such as white goods, furniture etc.
