Summary

Join our team of volunteers at Taunton Brewhouse - from ushering to to bar work to backstage technical production!

Detailed description

Help us make arts and culture thrive in Somerset and join our team of volunteers today.

We have a number of volunteering opportunities open to young people and Duke of Edinburgh Award participants, both front of house and backstage.

Our usher team is the first point of contact for our patrons: meeting and greeting, offering information about our venue and programme, tearing tickets, and providing assistance in the auditorium for the duration of the show before bidding them all goodnight.

Responsibilities may additionally include some light set-up (arrange tables and chairs, etc), stewarding exhibitions, and jumping behind the kiosk to provide assistance with selling concessions.

We also have volunteers manning our fully-licenced bar, delivering excellent customer service to fully complete the 'night out at the theatre' experience. If you can't commit to staying until the show is over, but are looking to develop marketable skills - come and gain desirable and transferrable experience working a busy bar! Volunteers in this role must be 16+.

Backstage, we have our technical and production crew who not only make the magic happen onstage, but also maintain our building and facilities. From set painting to exhibition hanging to operating sound and lights, the backstage volunteers see the show through from arrival to get-out. Technical volunteers must be 16+, as the role might involve things like working at height or around industrial equipment.

Please see our website for our upcoming programme - you'll see that we host a wide range of events, from contemporary performance and stand-up comedy, to music and dance, to family shows and cinema!

Events happen in our auditorium, studio, and outside in locations around Taunton. There are a variety of daytime, evening, and weekend opportunities, and shifts can last anywhere between 90 minutes and several hours, depending on the event. Volunteers are sent a monthly rota in advance and can sign up for shifts which fit their schedule. Shifts are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Volunteer benefits include pairs of complimentary tickets to select events within the month they are volunteering, discounts on other tickets and at the bar, invitations to training sessions, and seasonal socials.

If you'd like to join a warm and passionate team while engaging with and supporting the arts in Somerset, please get in touch. We'd love to hear from you!
