Café-Bar Volunteer

Help us make arts and culture thrive in Somerset and join our team of volunteers today.

Our volunteer team operate our fully-licenced bar and kiosk during events ranging from concerts to stand-up comedy to gallery openings. Sometimes catering to more than 400 patrons in an evening, our team serve drinks and sell snacks with a smile.

We use an intuitive iPad-based ePOS system to process sales and take payments, and we will provide training on this system and shadow shifts with experienced volunteers to get you started and confident.

Responsibilities may additionally include some stock organisation (facing up, date checking, stock count and rotation), as well as preparing interval drinks, and selling icecreams in the auditorium.

Please see our website for our upcoming programme - you'll see that we host a wide range of events, from contemporary performance and classical drama, to music and dance, to family shows and cinema. All of these audiences have differing tastes and you'll come to know intuitively which crowds will dabble in what!

Events happen in our auditorium, studio, and outside in locations around Taunton. There are a variety of daytime, evening, and weekend opportunities, and shifts can last anywhere between 90 minutes and several hours, depending on the event. Volunteers are sent a monthly rota in advance and can sign up for shifts which fit their schedule. Shifts are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Volunteer benefits include pairs of complimentary tickets to select events within the month they are volunteering, discounts on other tickets and at the bar, invitations to training sessions, and seasonal socials.
