We are looking for someone who can assist the estates team with simple maintenance jobs and routine checks.
Why we need you
At St Margaret’s Hospice Care, we are passionate about supporting people living with life-limiting illness and improving quality of life within our community. We are looking for a compassionate, organised and enthusiastic volunteer to join our Maintenance Team and play an important part in helping patients receive the care and support they need.
This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills, gain valuable experience, and become part of a friendly and supportive organisation making a real difference every day.
What you will be doing
Maintenance volunteers assist our maintenance team with many different tasks both inside and outside of our buildings. Tasks may include:
- assisting with weekly fire alarm testing they help
- checking and recording hot and cold water temperatures
- checking and recording the condition of fixed firefighting equipment.
- Portable Appliance testing – if willing to undertake the qualification.
What we need from you
- A regular weekly or fortnightly commitment between the hours of 9:00am and 4:30pm
- As part of our commitment to safer volunteer recruitment practices, volunteers interested in this role will be required to provide two references and attend an informal interview.
- This role requires a Standard Level DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check and a CD-LIN check.
- You will be required to complete a hospice induction and relevant mandatory training. We do consider evidence of prior learning from previous employment or volunteering, as long as it falls within St Margaret’s required refresher timeframes
- Applicants will need to be 18+ to carry out this volunteer role.
