Summary

Help provide social and emotional support in a friendly and informal way to Carers at their monthly meeting in Yeovil.

Detailed description

The Carers Group gives people who look after friends and family members the opportunity to take a much needed break, socialise with other carers, share experiences, laugh, cry and find out how to access local information, resources, and other sources of support. Alongside this, we run a seated activity group for the people they care for meeting on the second Tuesday of the month mid morning.

We need a volunteer to work with the group leader with support from Spark and other volunteers. Key roles include

  • Welcoming Carers as they arrive, reducing any first time nerves.
  • Supporting the meeting.
  • Enabling Carers to speak to each other and ask for ideas.
  • Working with existing team members
  • Supporting those using the exercise group to enter the studio.
  • Joining in and supporting gentle uptake of the activity respecting diversity of ability.
  • Undertaking initial online training and face to face occasional meetings.
