Treasurer

The South Somerset Environmental Forum (SSEF) is looking for someone to take on the role of treasurer.

We hope to open a bank account soon with the primary aim of financially supporting the community facing organisations who take part.

This will be focused on our 4 annual meetings.

The role will be to:

a) Support the Chair when funds are secured.

b) Make sure they are paid to the correct groups and individual.

c) Ensure the correct management of the bank account.

All money out will go to:

-An organisation that hosts a meeting, to continue their good work

-A speaker from an organisation, or if an unaffilated individual, towards a cause that has similar values to the SSEF

-Towards purchasing resources to hand out at meeting that will help the membership on their own projects (seeds, swift boxes, trees, spotting guides etc).

We can be very flexible with regard to time commitment, but would like the individual to be able to attend our 4 meetings each year (6 hours per year) and then an hour or two a month to work with the committee members. This can be in person or remotely.

Individuals should have some experience of working with an organisational bank account, good financial management and be up-to-date with IT.

In this role you will meet many different groups and organisations that are trying to make a positive impact for nature and their communities. No prior knowledge of environmental issues, horticulture or community engagement needed. You will meet some wonderful people and organisations, as well as some unusual but positive opportunities if you want to explore how you can continue to support your local environments.
