Our Climate Adaptation volunteers to support us with the creation of climate adaptation plans for communities across Somerset.

Working alongside the Climate Adaptation team, the assistant will provide vital administrative and communications support to help communities understand and implement effective climate adaption measures.

As a volunteer, you will give as much or as little time as you are able. To get the most out of this role, we ask that your usual commitment would be 3 hours per week. This is a hybrid role, and we would ask that the volunteer is able to come to our Callow office (near Cheddar) at least once a month.

Tasks involved in this role include:

  • Data entry and management of climate adaptation resources and contacts
  • Proofreading documents, reports, and community plans
  • Creating simple maps using digital tools to support community planning
  • Drafting content for social media posts related to climate adaptation initiatives
  • Writing newsletter articles to highlight community success stories
  • Assisting with filing and organization of project materials
  • Supporting the preparation of materials for community workshops and meetings
  • Creation of case studies and uploading to the appropriate networks
