Do you have a couple of hours to spare once a week or fortnight? Would you like to help someone in your local community in Somerset? Then we would love to hear from you!
We are looking for Volunteer Visitors to provide regular companionship and support to a sight impaired person in their local area.
No previous experience is necessary, as full training is provided. All reasonable expenses are paid, including mileage.
Somerset Sight currently helps 3,500 visually impaired people and their families every year, delivering vital practical and emotional support.

We know that life doesn't stop just because your sight has been affected. Our aim is to provide services, training and leisure activities that will help maintain independence and improve the quality of life of anyone who is affected by sight loss Working In Partnership. We have always valued our links with other organisations and have a good working relationship with Somerset County Council who contribute towards the cost of running our Visiting service and other services. We have good links with other sight loss organisations including RNIB, Action for Blind People and Guide Dogs for the Blind. As an independent local charity we are members of Visionary - linking local sight loss charities.
We started in 1919 so now over 100 years old. In 2019 we were very proud to receive the Queens Award for Voluntary Service.
