Would you like to help lead our team of volunteers in Somerset? You can help organise the administration and coordination of the local branch in Somerset.

Each SSAFA branch has a secretary who oversees the communication and administration required within the volunteer branch.

You will be supported by a branch chair and branch treasurer in the running of the branch to create a welcoming experience to volunteers who live and work in your branch community.

Key aspects of this role will be to help raise awareness of SSAFA amongst the local community and with those who can act as advocates, ambassadors, and supporters. Providing administration for the branch members to create a calendar of activity to appeal to potential supporters and beneficiaries.

This includes ensuring that all branch volunteers are kept up to date with mandatory training requirements.

You will be supporting the branch chair and ensuring that all activities comply with SSAFA regulations both directly, and through the community engagement volunteer and other branch officers.

Working with the branch chair to ensure the branch is compliant with relevant regulatory practices.

The role would suit someone looking to offer a regular time commitment of about one day each week.

Requirements: Access to public transport or a car to travel to meetings would be desirable but not a necessity. You will need access to IT equipment such as a laptop and the internet to carry out branch administration.

Support:

• You will have full support from the branch chair, community engagement volunteers, the community engagement co-ordinator and the rest of the team at SSAFA.

• On-line training modules to complete at home with access to a range of e-learning courses as well as local opportunities to keep your training up to date.

• Support from the branch chair and the Community Engagement Managers

• Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
