Summary

We’re looking for kind, reliable Volunteer Drivers to help us deliver veg and flowers around Radstock, Bath, Shepton Mallet, Frome and the surrounding areas.

Detailed description

Volunteer Drivers Needed!

Join Root Connections and help deliver veg boxes & flowers across Somerset.

Root Connections is a friendly Community Garden based near the Dairy House hostel, where we grow veg and flowers using organic principles. The produce supports people facing homelessness and helps improve health and wellbeing for people with complex needs.

We run a local veg box scheme and flower subscription service — and we’re looking for kind, reliable Volunteer Drivers to help us deliver to our customers around Radstock, Bath, Shepton Mallet, Frome and the surrounding areas. The routes on average take 1.5-2 hours to complete.

What’s the role?

You’ll help us get our beautiful, fresh produce to customers by:

  • Driving your own car to deliver veg boxes and flower bouquets
  • Loading and unloading orders
  • Planning your route – the ordering platform does provide a suggested route but always worth checking!
  • Keeping log of the Millage.
  • Representing Root Connections in a friendly and professional way.

Why volunteer with us?

  • Meet great people and be part of a warm, welcoming team
  • Help your local community and support those experiencing homelessness
  • Stay active and outdoors, and enjoy the countryside
  • Build skills in planning, teamwork, and organisation

 What we’re looking for:

  • Aged 21+ with a full UK driving licence (ideally with no or low points)
  • At least 3 years’ driving experience
  • Comfortable with lifting/moving boxes and bouquets
  • Able to follow directions via Sat Nav or map
  • Friendly, flexible and happy working alone or with others
  • Willing to follow simple health & safety guidelines
  • Availability on Thursday PM or Friday AM for deliveries.

We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and walks of life, and we’re committed to making volunteering accessible. If you have any access needs or health conditions, just let us know — we’re happy to help.

Interested?

Drop us a line and we’ll be in touch for a friendly chat. We’d love to hear from you!

About Root Connections CIC

As an organisation our mission is to improve health and wellbeing for adults with complex needs primarily those who are homeless and rough sleeping.

All profits and proceeds quite simply go toward our aim to help end homelessness in Mendip.

We value local, ethical and chemical free growing principles. The community garden has a significant number of committed volunteers who help grow the produce that enables us to fulfil our mission.
