Read Easy Taunton and Wellington Management Team Leader

Read Easy UK is changing the lives of many adults with its national programme of volunteer-led adult literacy groups. The Taunton and Wellington Management Team was established six years ago, but is now looking for someone to replace our current Team Leader who will be standing down at the end of June/July. Our new Team Leader will play a vital role in the running of our local group and ensuring that we continue to reach and support adults who struggle to read.

This role will appeal to someone would enjoy managing and supporting a team of volunteers, delegating tasks and enabling members to fulfil their individual roles. Some experience in team leadership is required. Key responsibilities are: managing team meetings; leading the team in setting goals and planning ahead so that we deliver a service to as many local people as possible; supporting and overseeing the Coordinator; and taking a lead in building strong relationships with valued stakeholders, helping to maintain the effectiveness of our Read Easy group.

This is a flexible role. The time commitment varies but is unlikely to exceed 5 hours in any week. Team Meetings are held in Taunton four times a year - under Covid restrictions we are meeting virtually on Zoom - and throughout the year the Team Leader keeps in regular contact with team members, the Coordinator and the Read Easy UK Regional Adviser. You will also get to know the reading coaches and become familiar with the reading programme 'Turning Pages' provided by Read Easy UK.

As a well established team we will ensure that you receive a full induction and all the documentation you need to carry out your role. The Regional Adviser and the team at Head Office will also provide ongoing support as you settle into the role. Regional Forums and the Annual Conference provide an opportunity to discuss issues of common interest and meet volunteers from other groups.
