Summary
Interested in helping our education team share the message about animal welfare?Come and join our volunteering opportunities with the RSPCA Education team.
Detailed description
We work with children, young people and families across England to educate them about the RSPCA and animals' welfare needs. These sessions can range from day long programmes and workshops at centres to whole school assemblies and youth group visits, as part of an outreach programme. By working with the local communities, the RSPCA aims to promote compassion and empathy for all animals - pets, wildlife and farm animals and to raise awareness of appropriate RSPCA campaigns.
If you can talk with passion to audiences both large and small and would like to make a difference, or would prefer to assist with some of the ‘behind the scenes’ preparations that go into bringing our education work to life, you should consider volunteering for the RSPCA at one of our Community Education Hubs.
Training and support: We offer you an induction into the work of the RSPCA, followed by an introduction to the welfare needs of animals. We will provide you with a digital toolkit including presentations and videos. The induction will also cover basic health and safety and safeguarding at the centre and in the community. Throughout your time as a Community Engagement Volunteer, you will have the opportunity to discuss reflective feedback following the delivery of programmes and input ideas into evaluation and new activities.
Location: As this is a community education programme delivery locations vary depending on the nature of an event. Some of the programmes may take place at one of our community education hubs, whilst others will be delivered within the local community such as in schools and community centres. You can choose how far you are willing to travel.
Additional information: An enhanced DBS will be required for this role. School sessions are usually delivered between 9:00am and 3:00pm, other activities may be evenings or at the weekend You will need to be at least 18 years old, If using your own vehicle for volunteering, we will need to ensure that you have the correct paperwork and insurance. Expenses to cover your mileage whilst assisting educational sessions and events can be claimed.
