Tea and Toasties is an after school drop in for 12 years plus and we're looking for volunteers to support the group.
Tea and Toasties is an after school drop in service for 12 years plus which provides a safe space for young people. The drop in is run by one of our youth workers and needs a team of volunteers to support it. We already run one session each week at the Good Heart cafe in the centre of Frome and will be starting a second drop in at the Key Centre in Frome after Easter. Sessions will run on Wednesdays from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Young people use the space to unwind after school, chat with friends, play games together and access support, if needed, from our staff member. Tea and Toasties is relaxed, informal and inclusive.
We would like to build a team of volunteers who can support Tea and Toasties and can be on rota for sessions, so that each volunteer will not need to be there every week. The service runs during term time only.
Volunteers will be helping to set up the space, making and serving food and drinks (mostly cheese toasties and hot chocolate), engaging with the young people and tidying up afterwards. Training will be offered as necessary.
The young people who attend really value this service, as demonstrated by this quote - "I absolutely love Tea and Toasties, it's always a nice, warm comfortable place to come and enjoy a relaxing toastie with my mates after a long day at school. Thankyou xx."
