Summary

The volunteer Group Leader will help support fun inclusive craft and play sessions for autistic children, their siblings and parents.

Detailed description

The volunteer Group Leader for the family activity club will help support fun inclusive craft and play sessions for autistic children, their siblings and parents. There is a sensory equipment and a quiet area available. This is also an opportunity for parents to meet and offer each other peer support. Without these roles, we would not have as many branches as we do.

What you will be doing

  • Planning sessions to include games and craft ideas
  • Welcoming parents, autistic children, young people and siblings to each session
  • Posting on the Branch Facebook page about the activities to be included in the upcoming sessions
  • Keeping the activity risk assessment updated
  • Setting up and clearing away before and after the club activity
  • Interacting with the parents and young people with autism, making sure that everyone can engage in the activities in a safe manner.
  • Any expenses incurred will be reimbursed by the branch.

When and where

  • The first and third Saturday of the month from 10 am to 11.30 am
  • The sessions take place in Locking, North Somerset
  • You must live locally to the branch to do this role
