Summary
To facilitate a monthly support group for anyone 18 + who has been bereaved by suicide in SomersetDetailed description
Overview of Role:
- To facilitate a monthly support group for anyone 18 + who has been bereaved by suicide in Somerset
- To be able to provide a safe and supportive space for anyone bereaved through suicide to talk about all aspects of their loss.
- Work to agreed processes and guidelines for Mind in Somerset Peer Groups
- Understanding of GDPR
Hours required:
- 2 hours a month to run the session, plus some administrative tasks outside of the sessions.
- Supervision discretion
Location:
- Bridgwater & Mendip
Responsible to:
- SSBSS Manager
Training provided:
- Safeguarding for vulnerable adults and children.
- SSBSS organisation protocol and where the role fits within it.
- Mind in Somerset Policies & Procedures.
- Whole service offering and appropriate sign-posting.
- Supervision and self-care.
Personal Attributes required:
- Lived experience of bereavement by suicide.
- The ability to recognise that the group facilitator role is not about your personal bereavement.
- A willingness to learn about suicide prevention in all its forms.
- The acknowledgement of safe-guarding, risk assessing, confidentiality and the full acceptance of what the facilitator role is.
- Must be able to engage with Supervision on a regular basis.
- The understanding that the individua is always under the responsibility of SSBSS, and the group facilitator will act in accordance with the policies and procedures of Mind in Somerset.
- Willingness to use Debriefer.
- Understanding and ability to demonstrate clear personal boundaries and confidentiality.

Mind in Somerset is an independent charity that has been formed from the merger, in October 2018, of Mind in Taunton and West Somerset and South Somerset Mind. The result is a charity able to deliver services for the whole of Somerset and to provide specific services to areas in adjoining counties.
