Somerset Suicide Bereavement Support Service Peer Group facilit

Overview of Role:

• To facilitate a monthly support group for anyone 18 + who has been bereaved by suicide in Somerset
• To be able to provide a safe and supportive space for anyone bereaved through suicide to talk about all aspects of their loss.
• Work to agreed processes and guidelines for Mind in Somerset Peer Groups
• Understanding of GDPR

Hours required:

• 2 hours a month to run the session, plus some administrative tasks outside of the sessions.
• Supervision discretion

Location:

•  Bridgwater & Mendip

Responsible to:

• SSBSS Manager

Training provided:

• Safeguarding for vulnerable adults and children.
• SSBSS organisation protocol and where the role fits within it.
• Mind in Somerset Policies & Procedures.
• Whole service offering and appropriate sign-posting.
• Supervision and self-care.

Personal Attributes required:

• Lived experience of bereavement by suicide.
• The ability to recognise that the group facilitator role is not about your personal bereavement.
• A willingness to learn about suicide prevention in all its forms.
• The acknowledgement of safe-guarding, risk assessing, confidentiality and the full acceptance of what the facilitator role is.
• Must be able to engage with Supervision on a regular basis.
• The understanding that the individua is always under the responsibility of SSBSS, and the group facilitator will act in accordance with the policies and procedures of Mind in Somerset.
• Willingness to use Debriefer.
• Understanding and ability to demonstrate clear personal boundaries and confidentiality.
