Performing Arts and Recovery Group Volunteer
This volunteer role will involve assisting the project leader in designing and delivering a new Recovery group. This new venture will offer participants general wellbeing and recovery support alongside practical performing arts skills working towards the aim of writing, designing and delivering theatre performances across Mendip. This role requires you to commit to assisting at one group per week, as well as meeting with the project lead occasionally.
About the opportunity
This opportunity is ideal for those from a performing arts background, or a student in drama who has an interest or background in community mental health. Gain personal satisfaction and a sense of achievement by being involved in this new MIND project. Performing arts students may wish to develop their community experience. Applications are encouraged from people who have had experience of mental distress or have understanding of what mental distress may mean for others.
What are we looking for?
Good listening skills, creative thinking, some experience in either performing, directing, dance, comedy, script writing, tech, or voice coaching. Experience and understanding of mental health would be useful.
When can you do this role?
The group will be run in Shepton Mallet on Tuesdays daytime initially we will be based at the Mind office and also a local theatre.
