Summary

Join in with chat over a cuppa and cake. Help with preparing refreshments and setting up and also meeting those who are anxious beforehand - a friendly face.

Detailed description

We meet at the Royal British Legion Hall in Shaftesbury on the first Thursday of every month. We need help with setting up the tables and chairs at the beginning and putting away at the end. I, and several others are physically disabled and so cannot do this. At the other venues it is just helping with the teas and coffees, washing up etc. We hope you would enjoy joining in with the chat and activities too. The Groups are facilitated by Amanda at Shaftesbury and Jane at Gillingham but numbers range from 2 to 16 and so the amount of help needed varies. There are sometimes other things such as helping someone fill in a simple registration form. All volunteers are DBS checked (free). Sometimes people like to be met outside if they are anxious about walking into a room for the first time. A befriending role might be possible.
