Summary

Are you excited to get out and about again this summer?
Looking to make an impact?
Enjoy speaking to people and cuddling dogs?
We have just the role for you!

Detailed description

We are looking for a team of outstanding volunteers to support the charity with events and fundraising activities this summer, and hopefully into the future if you enjoy yourself!

With your support, we can make great progress in making up for a lost year of fundraising. This will be vital for saving lives through medical alert assistance dogs and our bio detection research.

We would like to attend a number of shows and festivals across the South West, as well as bucket collections in stores and supermarkets. You would only ever be asked to do activities local to you, unless you would like to travel.

However, if this isn’t up your street and you would rather host your own event (e.g. jumble sale, bake sale) then we would also love to hear from you, and we’re here to support you every step of the way!

If you would like to have a chat about joining our volunteering team for the summer (or longer!) then please do get in touch. My name is Rebecca and I’m the regional coordinator for the South and South West of England. I can’t wait to hear from you!

What we will provide to volunteers

About Medical Detection Dogs

Medical Detection Dogs trains dogs to detect the odour of human disease. It is at the forefront of the research into the fight against cancer and helping people with life-threatening diseases. Our Bio-Detection Dogs are trained to find the odour of diseases , such as cancer, in samples such as urine, breath and swabs. Our Medical Alert Assistance Dogs are trained to detect minute changes in an individual's personal odour triggered by their disease and alert them to an impending medical event.

We receive no government funding for the work we do and rely entirely on the generosity of donations from trusts and the public.

To save and enhance lives using our specially trained Dogs' extraordinary sense of smell.
