Your time, your kindness, your presence - it all matters. Volunteer as a Hospital Companion and help brighten someone’s day
Companion Volunteers give time and emotional support to people with a terminal illness and their families. As an (ad hoc) Companion Volunteer at Musgrove Park Hospital, you’ll provide company, a listening ear, emotional or practical support to someone. You’ll be the person they can chat with and rely on for friendly, social interaction or signpost to helpful information.
Availability: Up to 3 hours per week or month on an ad hoc basis
Time: You would be contacted at short notice when the need arises
Criteria: Minimum 18 years of age.
What you’ll do:
- Be available at short notice to visit different patients at Musgrove Park Hospital
- Each visit may be with a different person, offering variety and new conversations
- Listen to stories, memories, or just talk about the everyday
You’d be a great fit if you’re:
- Caring and compassionate nature
- Patience and good listening skills
- Comfortable with sensitive topics, such as death, dying and bereavement
