Summary

Can you spare few hours a week/month to brighten up someone's day? If the answer is "Yes" then we would love to hear from you.

Detailed description

The aim of lunch/social club is to help improve the quality of life older people who are socially isolated and may only get out to this activity. Many lunch/social clubs also provide a range of activities, and Volunteers help in groups to provide group members with the support they need to join in the activity. This may include supporting an older person on a one-to-one basis to help them enjoy the activity. The role will also involve setting and clearing tables and help serve refreshments.  


The aim of our befriending and Social clubs services are to support and encourage our members to maintain access to services and facilities within the community they live in, and most of all have fun.

As a volunteer MHA will provide you with:

  • A full induction for the role;
  • Training on safeguarding, health and safety and other training relevant to the role
  • Ongoing support from a the Communities manager;
  • Out of pocket expenses in accordance with MHA’s Expenses Policy.

 

Times and Commitment

  • We ask that you make a minimum of six months commitment to this role;
  • We ask you to be able to spend 2 to 3 hours with elderly people at least once a month.
