Exhibitions will also need roving volunteers, who will need to be up to speed on the family history of Hestercombe and bring the stories to life for the visitors.

About Hestercombe Gardens Trust

"Hestercombe is a world famous heritage site with a unique display of restored period gardens, which have been saved from disrepair and restored to their former glory over the last 20 years. Hestercombe House hosts a contemporary art gallery, gallery shop, and a second-hand book shop, while elsewhere on site there is a restaurant and garden/gift shop. The site welcomes visitors throughout the year to explore the gardens, discover the art gallery, enjoy a jam-packed series of events, as well as attend weddings and functions.

As a small charity, Hestercombe relies on volunteers to deliver a number of extremely valuable services, both directly to visitors and behind the scenes.

There are a variety of ways you can get involved. Whether through gardening, invigilating in the Hestercombe Gallery, front of house or assisting in retail - all roles on which the running of Hestercombe is dependent.

Why volunteer?

By volunteering at Hestercombe you'll be part of the Hestercombe team made up of volunteers from the local community, as well as the Hestercombe staff.

The roles undertaken by volunteers here at Hestercombe are considered some of the most important across the organisation and allow us to offer the highest quality visitor experience. Without the support of volunteers we would not be able to deliver the wide range of events, high quality exhibitions and continued estate management that we currently provide.

Volunteers would need to commit to at least 3 hours a week. As a thank you for your help and hard work, Hestercombe offers volunteers free annual membership, as well as a annual volunteer get together, which is a great opportunity to socialise and get to know our team even better.
