Summary

Be a part of FordHaven and help us deliver fun, memorable family sessions for vulnerable children and their siblings.

Detailed description

We are a non-profit organisation, running a unique children's centre set up to support children in care and those who are separated from their siblings and wider family members.

We help to maintain, repair and re-establish the important family relationships that often breakdown due to separation.

Ultimately, sibling relationships are at the forefront of what we do.

We are committed to supporting young people in becoming the best versions of themselves.

FordHaven seeks to enable children and young people to build positive relationships with their families and others. We achieve this through a variety of planned activity sessions where the children & young people are at the heart of what we do.

Our main building has an area which offers a wide variety of arts & crafts, an area to play with toys and a snug area with books, puzzles and board games to suit each child/young persons needs.

We have access to various outdoor areas including an outdoor playground, an outdoor classroom for Forest based activities and acres of space to play where we can encourage time spent outdoors exploring and having fun, as well as the growing of plants & flowers.

We set out to achieve positive outcomes through our sessions. We aim to provide positive experiences where children and young people are able to spend their time in a setting created with them in mind.

We aim to ensure every young person:

  • Feels safe in the centre
  • Has a voice and feels heard
  • Feels respected and reciprocates this to others
  • Makes positive memories that will last a lifetime
  • Feels happy and comfortable

About FordHaven

We are Roxie & Paul Ford and we live in Glastonbury, Somerset UK.
We have over 10 years fostering experience. We are parents to 3 wonderful young people aged 24, 20 & 15 as well as currently caring for other children in our family home. We are all about having fun whilst having positive experiences, enabling our children to flourish and reach their full potential.

Throughout our time fostering, we have seen how challenging it can be for families to stay connected, especially siblings. Helping to preserve these connections is of huge importance to all children and young people as it helps for them to develop ongoing positive relationships.

At FordHaven, we aim to provide children and young people from Somerset who find themselves separated, a place to spend quality time with their siblings and wider families and provide them with a unique facility to create lasting, positive memories.
A variety of family-based activities are available to them.
