We are looking for trustees to support and strengthen the governance of this academy school.
Bishop Fox’s School has vacancies for Trustees to join its board.
The purpose of school governance boards is to provide strategic leadership in schools and to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.
Typically, governance boards meet every half term and expect board members to undertake monitoring visits to see the school in action, alongside preparing for meetings and undertaking training to support you in the role. The overall time commitment is in the region of 8 hours a month although this varies according to the individual school and any additional responsibilities you take on.
Being a school trustee is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It gives volunteers the chance to make a real difference to young people, to give something back to their local community and use and develop skills.
Anyone can be a trustee, as long as they are over 18 years of age. The board is looking to expand and diversify the Board of Trustees so that it better reflects the students, families, and the wider community the school serves.
We’re interested in people from a broad range of backgrounds, professions, and lived experiences. Boards benefit from having a diverse range of skills and expertise. Some examples of the types of experience that boards find particularly valuable include strategic leadership, finance, human resources, legal services, health and safety and education.
You don’t need to have worked in education or have previous governance experience. What matters most is your willingness to contribute, to ask thoughtful questions, and to support the strategic direction of the trust.
