We are looking for an academy governor and would particularly welcome interest from those with experience of health and safety or finance.
St Michael's Academy has a vacancy for a Governor to join its board.
The purpose of school governance boards is to provide strategic leadership in schools and to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.
Typically, governance boards meet every half term and expect board members to undertake monitoring visits to see the school in action, alongside preparing for meetings and undertaking training to support you in the role. The overall time commitment is in the region of 8 hours a month although this varies according to the individual school and any additional responsibilities you take on.
Being a governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It gives volunteers the chance to make a real difference to young people, to give something back to their local community and use and develop skills.
Anyone can be a governor, as long as they are over 18 years of age. The board is inviting applications from people from people of all backgrounds and professions, and would particularly welcome applications from those with experience in health and safety or finance.
