What’s involved?
- Playing your part in helping to conserve and protect Dunster Castle both inside and out
- Assisting with maintenance tasks around the site, such as repairing broken fixtures and fittings, painting, changing light bulbs, litter picking, cleaning signs, sweeping paths and weeding – though we will tailor tasks to best suit your skills and abilities and will always agree the way of approaching the task
- Repair of stone walls (subject to experience, or we will provide training) and paths
- Preparing for events by constructing marquees, moving furniture, placing signage and helping to clear up after the event
- There may be other activities where we could use your help
- Supporting with Health and Safety and evacuation procedures when required, becoming familiar with and then following the National Trust’s Health and Safety Policy and Dunster Castle specific information at all times
- Being part of a team that may need to adapt and change in response to local needs, National Trust priorities or changes to government guidelines e.g. Covid
