Digital Skills Support Volunteer

We are not looking for IT experts - just those of you who have a good understanding and knowledge of IT and a willingness to help others who have less understanding and confidence. Digital Link sessions offer non-judgemental, non-training support aimed at developing Digital Skills for individuals to become confident, safe and motivated to use IT necessary for their everyday lives. We run a Digital Link session every weekday in various venues in Bridgwater, Burnham on Sea and Highbridge. The sessions provide individual's the opportunity to access a FREE drop in session where they can access IT equipment and on hand support from volunteers in a relaxed, safe and friendly environment. This role will include: setting up equipment at the start and end of sessions helping individuals create and use email accounts support to access and use Somerset Homefinder and housing websites helping to access and update Universal Credit account supporting use of internet and accessing information helping someone to set up Credit Union account supporting to use online job sights, search for and applying for jobs online being on hand to assist someone when they need help Digital technology is now part of everyday life from ordering prescriptions, finding a new home or accommodation, online banking or shopping, job searching or using Universal Credit - which is why it is important that people with little or no IT confidence have free access to this service. You will be part of the Digital Link Volunteer team you will gain skills in: team work talking and listening to others Expand your skills with IT Access to our online training hub with a variety of training modules for you to complete if you wish will enhance your CV We will act as a reference contact for you after you have successfully volunteered with us for 6 month period. Volunteers required to commit for minimum for 3 hours per week - sessions run for 2.5 hours + time for setting up and packing away
