This voluntary role will involve taking a team out to local care homes and singing with the residents. There is a mixture of Christian and secular songs.

The Salvation Army have developed a programme called Singing by Heart, to support those living with Dementia. Through our small team of volunteers, we visit two local care homes once a month and share in prayer and song with the residents, their family and carers. As the leader, you will be required to take along the lyric books, instruments and sound system. The songs can be sung unaccompanied, or with the backing tracks provided. Knowledge of dementia is required - however, The Salvation Army do offer training for this. It is also important to be able to lead the songs through, and keep everyone engaged throughout the session.
