Spruce-Up Saturday - Volunteer at YMCA Taunton

YMCA Taunton is calling on local residents to take part in Spruce Up Saturday, a community volunteering event on Saturday 13 September, as the charity prepares to reopen its newly extended centre.

While the current building is celebrating its 50th anniversary, YMCA Taunton has been serving the local community since 1855. Today, it provides a wide range of services including a community centre, preschool, holiday clubs, youth clubs, young carer groups, fitness sessions, and sporting facilities.

Thanks to a recent grant from the Youth Investment Fund, the centre located on Lisieux Way has undergone a major transformation. New facilities include a training kitchen, climbing hall, digital studio, and additional multi-purpose meeting rooms—designed to support people of all ages and backgrounds.

Before the official reopening in October, YMCA Taunton is inviting volunteers to help spruce up some of the older areas of the building.

Jobs on the day will include:

• painting and decorating
• cleaning and tidying
• gardening, weeding and grass cutting
• cleaning upholstered chairs
• fitting shelves, hanging TVs and signs
• taking rubbish to the tip
• preparing refreshments for volunteers.
