Join the Tor School Governing Body to make a profound difference to the lives of many children and young people across east Somerset.
The Tor School is an incredible place which makes a profound difference to the lives of many children and young people across east Somerset - Glastonbury, Yeovil, Crewkerne, Chard and surrounding towns and villages.
We are looking for new volunteer school governors to help us make the most of new opportunities. If you would like to explore the chance to play your part then we would be delighted to hear from you. You can join as a full Member or associate Member which we can discuss with you.
At the moment, we are especially interested in strengthening the group which oversees the business aspects of the school. In particular, we are looking for individuals with experience in human resources or information systems as we are very keen to strengthen our skills in those areas. You don’t need experience in education - just a desire to learn and to make a positive impact.
These voluntary roles offer the chance to broaden your experience while making a meaningful contribution to the local community and to be part of a supportive and committed team helping to shape the future of young people in the area.
We’d love to hear from you so please contact us! There’s no obligation but it would allow you to find out more and assess if you might want to take things further.

About The Tor School
Tor School is a unique and inspiring community where every young person is seen, valued, and supported to thrive.
We believe deeply in people and their potential, and we work hard to recognise strengths, build confidence, and create a sense of belonging for every student.
Like a family, we look out for one another.
Our dedicated staff ensure that each pupil receives the right support at the right time, helping them develop the personal skills, resilience, and ambition they need for a successful future—whether that’s an apprenticeship or entering the world of work.
As a governor, you will play a vital role in shaping this journey.
You’ll help guide a school that transforms lives, puts wellbeing at its core, and is relentless in securing the best possible outcomes for its young people.
