Summary

We are looking for a cheerful and enthusiastic person who enjoys cooking for others to provide a simple lunch for our beneficiaries that attend our Chat Cafe.

Detailed description

Our Chat Cafe is a small friendly drop in, open to all, to prevent loneliness and isolation. This Cafe is part of the Balsam Centre's Warm Hub offer. It takes place every Monday morning between 10-1p.m. We provide tea, coffee and refreshments and a simple light lunch to give people the opportunity to get out of the house, chat and make new friends. Volunteers would:

  • Prepare and serve a simple light lunch, i.e soup alongside another volunteer.
  • Follow good Food Hygiene practices.
  • Support Balsam Centre staff members in helping to create a cheerful and enjoyable environment for our attendees.

This role would suit a friendly and enthusiastic person who is a confident cook and enjoys spending time with people. All volunteers require a DBS check which is funded by the Centre. We would like to recruit 2-3 volunteers that can commit to two Monday mornings a month.
